Playback
In this section you will learn how to replay a test and find out why a step fails.
Play a test or a suite
- Play in the Tests toolbar replays the selected test in the browser panel.
- Play Suite in the Suites toolbar replays every test of the selected suite, in order.
- Stop ends the run; Pause suspends it, and Play resumes it.
During and after a run, each step of the command list shows its state: running, passed, or failed in red. The log panel below the browser shows every command executed and the error of the failing step.
From the step menu (right-click a step) you can also Play From Start, Play To Here, Play From Here or Play This Step.
Step through a test
Play Next Step runs one command and stops. Use it with a breakpoint to reach the part of the test you want to inspect, then go forward one step at a time while watching the page.
Playback speed
The speed button sets how fast commands follow each other (Test execution speed). Slow it down when a page needs time between two steps; then add an explicit wait, such as wait for element visible, so the test passes at full speed too.
Browser size
The width and height fields above the browser panel set the size of the page the test runs in. Viewport presets offers common desktop, tablet and phone sizes. Record and replay a test at the size its users browse at: a responsive site shows different elements on a phone.
The set window size command fixes the size from within the test.
Scheduled runs
Runs started by a schedule play in the background, without the browser panel, and are recorded in the performance history like manual runs.
When a run fails or errors, scheduled or not, Pulse keeps a screenshot of the page with the run in the performance history.
